Our Toy Run 2011 was held on Saturday, 5 November 2011 at the Softball Field in Olympia, Windhoek (opposite the municipal swimming pool).  We are doing the Toy Run in association with Radiowave 96.7 and are supporting the charity of OEWONA, (Organization for the Empowerment of Widows / Widowers and Orphans of HIV and AIDS in Namibia) as well as other disadvantaged communities.

Madam Penehupifo Pohamba, the First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, is the founder member and the Patron of the organization.

With the toys, stationery, books, toiletries, blankets and second hand clothing we want to make the holidays a little brighter for disadvantaged children of all races in orphanages, shelters, homes and hospitals throughout the country’s communities.

Children from the Hope Village was entertained at the Toy Run and received toys, cooldrinks and food.  Some very tired, but happy children left the Toy Run event with waves and smiles.

Live to Ride MCC, Radiowave 96.7 and the organisers of the Oewona River Challenge will be departing from Windhoek on Friday, 18 November to Rundu to distribute toys, food, clothing and stationary to the HIV orphans along the Kavango river.
